Solidarity, Not Saviors @ YWCA Berkeley/Oakland
Apr 22 @ 3:00 pm – 5:00 pm

Solidarity Not Saviors is a training for white and citizen allies in the fight for immigrant justice who want to take effective collective action in solidarity with immigrant communities. Deepen your practices of accountability, learn about community safety from an immigrant justice perspective, and effectively apply this learning to campaigns to end deportation, detention, and discrimination. We will cover the history of xenophobia and its connection to white supremacy, common myths and narratives about immigration (and how to dispel them), the intersections of whiteness and citizenship privilege, and how to build accountable relationships with immigrant-led organizing in your community.

Can’t join us in person? This event will be livestreamed! Register here to receive a reminder and link.

Solidarity Not Saviors is a collaboration between YWCA Berkeley/Oakland and YWCA San Francisco & Marin in partnership with Showing Up for Racial Justice (SURJ) Marin, drawing on materials developed by Catalyst Project’s Immigrant Justice curriculum.

This workshop is geared towards people who have citizenship privilege and in particular white-identified people; people of all statuses and of all racial and ethnic identities are welcome to attend. The workshop is offered free of cost. At the event, we welcome donations to immigrant justice organizations.

ICE Raid Response Training @ Alcohol Justice
Apr 23 @ 10:00 am – 12:00 pm

If immigration enforcement came to your business, would you know how to respond? Would your employees?

New California laws were enacted in 2018 that impact you as a business owner, and we’re here to help. In this free workshop, YWCA will help employers feel confident in their rights and responsibilities related to ICE. We’ll cover proactive steps you can take now, how to train your employees, where to get help in the event of a raid, and what to look for under key new laws that passed in California last year. Learn how to protect your business and take care of your community.

RSVP here. Call Laura at 415-971-6753 or email laura@ywcasf-marin.org with any questions.

This is a free workshop provided by YWCA San Francisco & Marin and ICE Out of Marin. It is not legal advice.
