Volunteer Opportunities

Are you looking for a way to help girls, women, and their families in your community? The YWCA San Francisco & Marin has a variety of volunteer opportunities. Prefer hands-on work with our clients? You can mentor a teenager, lead a group of younger children in enrichment activities, or guide public school students in exploring career options. Want to help around the office? Lend your administrative and computer skills to support our FiftyPlus Employment Program’s Coordinator.

Please contact the program staff if you are interested in any of the following volunteer opportunities. If you would like to learn more about serving on our Board of Directors, please contact our Executive Director, Judy Case, at 415-479-YWCA.

NEST (Newcomer Elementary Student Tutorial) Program, San Francisco Chinatown

NEST After School Program and Summer Programs provide bilingual education and multi-cultural enrichment to Asian newcomers ages 6 to 13.

Job Description: Help youth with after school activities including reading, homework help, arts and crafts, and more. You can get involved in one of two ways:

Provide support to the Program Director for the NEST Afterschool Program, which is in session 1:30-5:30 Monday to Friday. Help youth with homework, reading, arts and crafts, computer lab workshops and more. The more volunteer support we have, the more individual attention each youth receives.

We also welcome volunteers who wish to share a specific skill, passion, or enrichment activity on an occasional or one-time basis. You might teach art, lead exercise classes, or give nutrition lessons in a one-hour long session of the Afterschool or Summer Program.

Commitment: Regular volunteers in the Afterschool Program are asked to be able to volunteer a few hours per week for one school term.
