Staff Bios

Judy Case
Executive Director

Judy has worked in the nonprofit field for twenty-five years. Her expertise is in transforming agencies through development, community collaborations, and board relations. After serving as the Executive Director of the YWCA of Bradford, PA, and before joining us here in June 2007, Judy was CEO of the YWCA of San Diego County for eight years. Under her leadership, the Association’s budget doubled, and it built two transitional housing complexes for families affected by domestic violence. The agency also operated San Diego’s only shelter for homeless families.

Judy holds bachelor’s and master’s degrees in economics from the University at Buffalo where she is a member of the alumni board of directors. She earned a fundraising certificate from the Center on Philanthropy from Indiana University.

Anna Au
Tenant Services Director, YWCA Apartments

Anna, an immigrant from Hong Kong, came to Francisco with her family when she was 11 years old. She lived in Chinatown and attended schools in San Francisco until the family returned to Hong Kong when Anna was 16. As Tenant Services Director for the YWCA Apartments, Anna organizes resident events and finds community resources for the occupants of the Apartments, the majority of whom are Chinese immigrants. Prior to joining the YWCA in 1991, Anna was a social worker for Golden Gate Regional Center, serving developmentally disabled clients from 3 to 63 years of age.

Anna holds a degree in developmental psychology from San Francisco State University and is working on a master’s degree in social work.

Patrick Chin
Program Director, YWCA Apartments

Patrick Chin joined the YWCA Apartments in December 1999. He has been in the field of affordable housing for more than fifteen years and has extensive experience in both accounting and housing management. Beyond his involvement in the Chinatown community, he has been active in the IRS’s Volunteer Income Tax Assistance program for over ten years.

Gretchen Dean
Administrative Assistant

Gretchen joined our staff in October 2010 and is based at the YWCA Marin Center in San Rafael where she handles all administrative functions including office management and client intake. She has a Masters degree in psychology and enjoys working with and helping people. As a former 50 Plus participant, her direct experience with the job search process makes her an invaluable member of the Marin team. Her business background includes banking, financial services, publishing, and construction. 

Heather Mauer
Director of Chinatown Youth Program

Graduated from Florida Atlantic University with a Bachelor’s Degree in Elementary Education. She has over six years of experience teaching and working with children. She possesses her ESOL Endorsement as well as Teaching Certificate in grades K-6. She has over four years of experience working Aftercare as well as Supervising Summer Camp programs.

Heather recently started working for the YWCA, as the Youth Program Director for the Aftercare and Summer Program. The role is to provide a fun, safe, and educational environment for all students. The program offers language enrichment, homework help, interactive computer classes, fieldtrips, arts & crafts, healthy lifestyles, and intergenerational activities.

Huckleberry Greenlee
Program Facilitator – ESL & Computer Learning Center

Huckleberry is an experienced teacher with all ages in a variety of skills. She has not only taught English and computer classes, but has also taught horseback riding, outdoor skills, and business classes. Huckleberry is a native English speaker and is fluent in Mandarin with a basic understanding of Cantonese. She has lived and worked in Guangdong province for the Midea Group. Her work experience includes; designing and administering corporate classes for English and business, designing and administering community ESL classes and computer classes, international marketing development, and strategic planning. She has a Masters in Business from San Francisco State University and has been working with the Chinese community in San Francisco and China for the last 7 years. Huckleberry has a background in studio art, loves the outdoors, is committed to education, and enjoys helping the planet and the creatures that inhabit it.

Lynn Murphy
Program Coordinator, Life Inc. Career Exploration Program

Lynn joined the YWCA team in March of 2009 to transition the Girls' Leadership program to the Life Inc. career development and life skills program in Marin County high schools. She worked in four high schools and The Marin Youth Center (The MYC) in the spring of 2009 helping students define and refine their interests and career goals. Lynn has worked with youth for the last 19 years, first as a teacher and soccer coach, then as a Marriage and Family Therapist intern in Marin schools. For the last 4 years, Lynn worked at the San Rafael Police Department, Youth Services Bureau, counseling youth and their families involved in the juvenile justice system as well as doing individual and group therapy at a local high school.

Lynn has a BA from Columbia University, an MA in Education from Pepperdine University and an MS in Counseling Psychology from Dominican University.

Nancy Richardson
Employer Liaison, FiftyPlus Employment Program

Nancy joined the YWCA in June, 2009 in a newly created position designed to increase employment opportunities for female job-seekers over age 50. Her focus is on building relationships with Marin County employers to identify hiring trends, employer needs and employment opportunities.

Nancy’s passion is helping people find employment and realize their potential. She brings 20 years of corporate recruiting experience within various industries including financial services, high-tech and most recently, healthcare. In that capacity, Nancy was responsible for filling entry level, professional, technical and senior management openings. Nancy brings a new perspective to the program based on her background assessing clients from a human resources and employer standpoint.

Betty Szudy
Program Coordinator, FiftyPlus Employment Program

Betty helps women job seekers over 50 years old with self-assessment, resume preparation, interview preparation, and the evaluation of computer skills. She creates for each client a job search action plan that serves to increase accountability and motivation. Prior to joining the YWCA in 2007, Betty worked for 17 years as a trainer and curriculum developer teaching legal rights, health and safety practices and employment readiness skills through a non-profit based at the University of California at Berkeley.

She has a bachelor’s degree from California State University at Chico in social work with a minor in women’s studies.

Mark Tao
Chief Financial Officer

Mark has significant experience in the fields of accounting and immigration law. Before coming to the YWCA, he worked in the finance department of a local independent advertising agency, managing the accounting for various marketing campaigns, including a high-profile political campaign for the office of attorney general. He has also worked as a paralegal and, an immigrant himself, has worked extensively with newcomers on various immigration-related issues.

A licensed CPA, Mark holds both an MBA and a bachelor’s degree in accounting from San Francisco State University.

Lawrence Yuan
Staff Accountant

Lawrence’s primary responsibility at the YWCA is to maintain the accounts payable, accounts receivable and payroll cycle. Prior to his position with the YWCA, he worked as a tax accountant in a public accounting firm in San Francisco. Lawrence graduated from San Francisco State University in 2007 and majored in International Business and Accounting.
